16 Days of Activism starts on November 25th with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ends on December 10th with Human Right’s Day.
Post It Activities (WDHS)
WDHS’s HEART team set up a table in the atrium on the first Tuesday and Thursday of 16 Days and asked their peers the questions:
“What are red flags/green flags (unhealthy/healthy traits) in a relationship?”

“What are positive/negative things you see in the school?”

16 Days Assembly (Sir Allan MacNab)
December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, in honour of the 14 young women who were killed at Polytechnique Montreal in 1989 in a violent act of misogyny.
Interval House’s MentorAction program leads came to MacNab with former professional athlete, Kwaku Boateng. MentorAction shared information about gender-based violence and the 4D’s of bystander intervention.
MacNab’s HEART team held a moment of silence for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, and ran a trivia game on GBV stats.

You’ve Got HEART Photo Booth (WDHS)
WDHS’s HEART team set up a photo booth in the cosmo room, where their peers could write positive affirmations for the mirror.

Poster Contest (WDHS)
Grade 9 art classes at WDHS created posters to spread the message of this year’s theme of 16 Days of Activism: Listen. Learn. Act. Our top 2 winners were McKenzie and Coco!
